Creating a Poll app using phonegap

So i've been looking in to this for the past 2 days but im more confused now than when I started.

I've installed node.js and I'm using the phonegap windows app.

What I want to do is allow the user to create a question and enter the answers available for selection which would then be submitted to a DB. User's can then chose an answer which would generate a graph of results.

What would be the best way going about this? My understanding so far (not a very good one) is that I would link it to mongodb and node.js?

Read so many different things now i'm just confused at the best way about going about this.
