Wicket Palette component buttons not firing default javascript events

I am using the wicket palette component version 1.6.16. The navigation buttons work as expected when the component is added to a Page or Panel. However, the javascript onclick event does not fire when the component is added to a panel that is the inner content for a ModalWindow component. Any ideas why this is occurring or how I can reinitialize the Palette component's buttons to fire their javascript as expected?

IE. I want to use the Palette component in a popup Modal window but the left/right buttons don't fire their javascript. When I had the component to the Page the modal would be fired from it works as expected. What's the difference?
