HTML and Javascript together [on hold]

I've taken a couple very localized programming courses but I can't find anything about my problem online. I can script in Javascript adn HTML, I just don't know how to use them together.

How would I display Javascript elements in HTML? Are there any example of something simple like a text based game built in HTML and Java on JSfiddle that I could look at.
