Stop slideshow dynamically based on specific slide

Drupal 7 setup using Views Slideshow › Example, when a company closes due to the weather, being on the first slide, it needs to stop the auto play but when removed the auto play resumes without having to mess with the Slideshow settings. We attached a class to the slide to help target but what would be the required javascript to help make this happen?

I can't write javascript but can read a little bit. I've plugged and played before.

Any help would be lovely.
